  Camp Setting

  Activities at Summer Camp
Each day campers help lead morning and evening worship services. They spend a portion of the morning in teaching based on a Christian theme. The other half of the morning includes activities such as kayaking and tubing on the river and sports such a triple dodge ball, soccer, frisole', ultimate Frisbee and kickball, which are led by the activities director. The afternoon consists of three main activities. Part of the camp cools off in the swimming pool, supervised by certified lifeguards, part kayak and tube on the river, while the others work on their God-given creative side in the Arts and Crafts building supervised by a crafts director. Each day the campers re-energize themselves with snacks purchased at Canteen. The evening activities might include capture the flag, scavenger hunts, hiking, a movie, a talent show, a bonfire and other events.

  Staff
Each camp session includes a dean and chaplain, both priests, plus a teacher who is a youth minister, Christian Education director, or lay person with a gift for teaching. Camp also includes a Summer Staff of 28 persons selected and trained by the Department of Camps and Conferences. There are also 16 Session Staff who serve as individual cabin counselors with the summer counselors. Each camp is staffed by at least one registered nurse who gives campers their prescribed medicine, takes care of scrapes and bruises, and determines whether a camper needs to see a doctor, or must go home to prevent the spread of a contagious illness. Campers have a 5 to 1 ratio with staff while in the cabin, and a 3 to 1 ratio when the entire camp is together.
