  Brenda & Charlie Johnson
 

Brenda and Charlie Johnson have lived and worked at Camp Capers for 10 years.  Charlie takes care of all the maintenance of the buildings and all of the grounds.  Brenda is the Registration Manager for Camps and the office manager for weekend groups.  They come from the Victoria area, and are thrilled to be here doing God's work.  They hope to continue this ministry for a long time. They attend St Boniface Church in Comfort.

 

 

 
  James Barrett
  Element_2364a.JPG James is the Camp Capers Cook (he is posing with Rev Mary Earle). He lives in San Antonio with his wife Renee, but stays at camp while a group is here. He has worked for Camp Capers for 9 years. The campers and some adults have nicknamed him "Papa Bear". He orders and prepares the food that we enjoy while at camp. He is a member of Church of Reconciliation in San Antonio.
 
  Sandra Tschirhart
  Element_2365a.JPG Sandra is our newest staff member. She started working here in February of 2005. She lives in Rio Medina and stays onsite when cooking.  She loves to shop and loves to meet the campers and learn about them.
 
  Stacy Dowdy
 

Stacy is the Youth and Young Adult Ministry Officer for the Diocese, and she is a member of Holy Spirit Episcopal in San Antonio. Camp Capers has had a major impact on her life. Her first year as a camper was in 1969, and she continued at Capers over the years as a camper, counselor, summer staff, and teacher.  She feels her most important job this summer is to provide the counselors and staff with the tools and support needed to meet the needs of every camper who sets foot on the sacred grounds of Camp Capers.

 

 

 
  Sarah Cozad
 

Sarah's home parish is St John's in McAllen and is a recent graduate of University of Texas in Austin. Sarah will be continuring her education, starting this fall, at the Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas where she will be achieving a Masters Degree in Child Development. She has been involved heavily with Camp Capers since 1995 and became a session counselor in 2000.  She served as the Girl's Lead Counselor last summer.  She is now serving as Staff Director, also known as the Assistant to the Dean.  Sarah cannot survive without her relationship with Christ and couldn't go a day without Him walking by her side.  She feels Camp Capers is such an amazing place for kids to find out how much they are loved by our Saviour and wants to share that message with the campers and staff.

 

 
  Deidre Almstead
 

Deidre is a Cabin Counselor in Cabin 14.  Her home parish is St Luke's Episcopal Church in San Antonio and is attending Southern Methodist University in Dallas.  She has been a camper since 1998 and started counseling in 2005.  She is a Business major and hopes to go into hospital administration, where she will use Christ's love throught her to help others.

 

 

 

 
  Audrey Armstrong
 

Audrey is on the work crew.  She graduated from Churchill High School in San Antonio.  She will be attending University of Texas San Antonio in the fall then transfer to University of Texas in Austin and plans to study Biology with a minor in Communications.  She hopes to become an Anesthesiologist.  She attends St Thomas Episcopal Church in San Antonio.

 

 
  Aaron Blackerby
 

Aaron's home parish is All Saints' Episcopal Church in Corpus Christi and is attending Warren Wilson College in North Carolina.  He has been a session counselor since 2004 and started working on staff in 2006 in the kitchen.  Arron traveled to India and Turkey last year and wants to be a rockstar.  Aaron's life has always been impacted by Christ and feels there is nothing more important than helping someone come to know Christ.

 

 
  Jessica Canady
 

Jessica is a Summer Counselor in Cabin 2.  Her home parish is All Saints' Episcopal Church in Corpus Christi and is going to be a third year at Texas State in San Marcos.  Her major is Athletic Training with an emphasis on Physical Therapy and will use that to heal others, with God's help.  She has been a camper since she was about 9 years old and became a session counselor in 2005.  Camp Capers has had a major impact on Jessica's faith both as a camper and counselor.  As a first time summer staff, she wants to bring unity and bond to her cabin while sharing her experiences with the campers and helping them with theirs.   

 

 

 

 
  Stefan Cich
 

Stefan is a Summer Counselor in Cabin 1.  His home parish is Episcopal Church of the Advent in Alice and is attending University of Texas in Austin.  Stefan has been a camper since 1998 and became a session counselor in 2004.  He came to know Jesus at Camp Capers and feels Camp Capers is a gift from God to him.  This is the same experience Stefan wants to give his campers.

 

 
  Elizabeth Davies
 

Elizabeth is a counselor in Cabin 16 for the second half of the summer.  She attends St Edward's University in Austin where she is majoring in Social Work.    Her home parish is St John's Episcopal in McAllen.  She is excited to be with the kids this summer.

 

 

 
  Katy Francis
 

Katy is on the work crew this summer.  This is the group that does all of the background work for camp.  This includes kitchen duty, office duty, grounds keeping, bonfire building, etc.  She graduated from MacArthur High School in San Antonio.  She has been a camper since 1998 and a session counselor since 2005.  She attends St Thomas Episcopal Church in San Antonio. She will attend San Antonio College for a year and will then go to the University of North Texas in Denton, studing Elementary Education.

 

 

 
  Will Fuller
 

Will is a counselor in cabin 5 for the second half of the summer.  He graduated from Texas Military Institute.  His home parish is Good Shepherd in Corpus Christi.  He will attend Baylor University in Waco Texas where he will study International Studies.  He has been attending Camp Capers since age 9 and has been a counselor for 3 years.

 

 

 

 
  Travis Glick
 

Travis' home parish is St Helena's Episcopal in Boerne and he is attending Texas A & M in Galveston.  He has been a camper since 1996 and became a counselor in 2004.  He was also a Happening Rector in 2005.  Travis will be the leader of the newly formed Work Crew.

 

 
  William Hanley
 

William is a Summer Counselor in Cabin 13.  This is William's second year as a Summer Counselor, and he as been a camper since 1997. He is a student at Baylor University in Waco where he is studying Economics, and he attends St Paul's Episcopal Church in Waco.  William's home parish is Christ Episcopal Church in San Antonio.  He is sure that his experience and enthusiasm will be a great asset to everyone at camp.

  Ivan Knapp
 

Ivan is on the work crew for the second half of the summer.  He graduated from Fredericksburg High School and attends St Boniface Church in Comfort.  He has been a camper since 2000.  In the fall he will be attending Spartan School of Aeronautics and Technology in Tulsa Oklahoma.  In the spring semester he will attend University of Texas in San Antonio to study Business.  He hopes to open a teen recording gathering/coffee shop.

 

 

 
  Kami Lockamy
 

Kami is a Summer Counselor in Cabin 6.  Her home parish is St Dunstan's Episcopal Church in Spring TX.  She attends the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she is a pre-med student majoring in Chemistry.  She has been a counselor at Camp Allen as well as active member and reader of her church's youth programs.  The most important aspect of walking by faith is to simply stop and listen in order to truly hear God's call and to trust and experience the awewome power of prayer.  She is psyched to be a counselor at Camp Capers this summer and  is eager to grow in Christ as her campers begin/deepen their walks with God through this sacred place.

 

 
  Trey McCarty
 

Trey's home parish is Hillside Fellowship in Bulverde and he is a junior at Abilene Christian University.  He has been a counselor since 2006.  He loves music and believes it has the ability to stir the soul.  Trey's favorite quote is "God is Dog backwards, and dog is "man's best friend."   He is involved with the non-profit organization "To Write Love on Her Arms", a group dedicated to giving hope to the suicidal and depressed.  Trey invites Jesus into his boat every day. Trey feels that camp comes from the need to serve and serving brings out the best in everyone. 

 

 
  Jorie Mosty
 

Jorie's home parish is St Peter's in Kerrville and has graduated from University of Texas in Austin. While at UT, she spend 4 years as a Texas Cheerleader and also worked as the Program Coordinator at The Episcopal Student Center at UT.  Jorie has been a camper since 1992 and became a session counselor in 2002.  This summer she is serving as the Activities Director.  Jorie is excited to share God's love through the games and activities, and hopefully make the kids sweat a little. 

 
  Marybeth Osterman
 

Marybeth is a Summer Counselor in Cabin 4.  Her home parish is All Saints' Episcopal Church in Corpus Christi and will be a Senior at Texas A&M University.  She is studying Psychology and hopes to one day become a Psychologist.  Marybeth has been a camper since 1996 and became a session counselor in 2005.  Her relationship grows stronger daily, especially through trials and tribulations, and would like to share this walk and relationship with Christ with others.  Marybeth feels that a staff member should be a guide on their walk with Christ and she wants to be there for the campers to guide and give them support that they may not get elsewhere.  

 

 
 
  Daniel Newhart
 

Daniel's home parish is St Helena's in Boerne and is attending Boerne High School.  He is on the Happening Board.  Daniel will be a part of the "work crew" that has been established this year at Camp Capers.  Daniel feels that the Lord has blessed him with a servant's heart and this gift has a direct impact on the life of the camp through this newly established work crew.  The work crew will assist the other staff members so that they can focus on the campers and not the chores of camp itself.

 

 
  Mark Rentfro
 

Mark's home parish is Church of the Advent in Brownsville and is a Senior English Major at Trinity University in San Antonio where he is the sports editor for the school newspaper.  He has been a camper since 1994 and a session counselor since 2005.  Mark has grown up in the Episcopal Church and has always felt the presence of Christ.  Camp Capers is a place where he has directly experienced the love of God and wants to pass that experience on to others.

 

 
  Lauren Rigsby
 

Lauren is a Summer Counselor in Cabin 12.  Her home parish is St Luke's Episcopal in San Antonio and she attends Southwestern University in Georgetown where she is majoring in Comparitive Religion and Anthropology.  Lauren has been a camper at Camp Capers since 1996 and has been a counselor here since 2003.  Lauren is thrilled by the opportunity to encourage and inspire others to know and deepen their relationship Christ this summer.

 

 
  Rachel Rigsby
 

Rachel is the assistant to the nurse this summer.  She attends St Luke's Episcopal Church in San Antonio.  She attends University of Texas in San Antonio and studies Philosophy.  She volunteers at CASA (Children's Advocacy of San Antonio).  After Graduation she hopes to work at CPS (Child Protective Services) in San Antonio.

 

 

 
  Kendra Rogers
 

Kendra attends Christ Episcopal Church in Nacogdoches, Tx and attends Stephen F. Austin State University.  She has been a camper since 1998 and started working on staff in 2005.  Kendra knows her desires and passion belong within the Camp Capers walls, helping serve the children and staff.  The Lord has blessed her with life long friends and her amazing journey with Christ through her experiences at Camp Capers.  Kendra is the Girl's Lead Counselor and she resides in Steves Hall. 

 
  Lauren Ryland
 

 

Lauren is attending Christ Episcopal Church in San Antonio and is attending Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde, TX.  She has been coming to camp since the age of 12.  She is a part of the Work Crew. 

 

 

 

 
  Genese Villani
 

Genese is a Summer Counselor in Cabin 10.  Her home parish is St Thomas Episcopal in San Antonio and is attending Texas State University in San Marcos.  She is majoring in Biochemistry and wants to be a Registered Nurse.  She has been a camper since 1997 and started counseling in 2005.  Through her experience, God has taught Genese how to become the woman that He wants her to be.  Counselors set a high example of what a Christian family truly is and Genese wants every camper to feel the love and learn from it.

 

 
  Dominic Wedderburn
 

Dominic is a Summer Counselor in Cabin 11.  His home parish is Holy Spirit in San Antonio and attends UTSA.  He is a seasoned counselor from Camp Allen which is the camp for the Diocese of Texas.  He was a counselor for Mid-Winter at Camp Capers and this is his first year as Summer Counselor.  He says that he believes the youth are an important part of church and intends to keep it that way.  He also believes that Camp Capers is the future of something big and he is glad to be able to be a part of it.
